Disneyland ... Yay! No! ...

Last week was rough one. It was supposed to be lots of fun. And it was! But then it was exhausting and a bit painful. Welcome to the Magic Kingdom!

Chris and I went to Disneyland Paris with some friends, left Sunday, 26 May and retuned Monday, 27 May. We rode more roller coasters than we should have. We both felt the effects for a few days thereafter. We also had to drive home Monday night to get our friends back for work. It was tough on us. Yes, it was great fun just at the expense of some sleep.

So, we knew our meals would not be what we would eat at home but all in all, we didn't eat too terribly.

Well, our workouts weren't so great either since both of us were recouperating. Monday killed it at Disneyland. Tuesday we slept the whole day. Wednesday- I did a light leg work out. Thursday- Ran about 1 mile (the girls, Angela and Katy were visiting) and we lost Sweet Pea. Yep, we lost her in a field of grass over 3' high. It appeared that Sweets waited for us on the trail, so after about 15-20 mins we found her, thankfully. I <3 my puppy. She was well, but I think a little afraid that she had lost her mommy.

I'll let you know how this week goes. So far, so good.

Ciao,
Chris, Rayna & Sweets

Updates on our "shapes"

So, it's been a long time since I've posted on this blog. I've actually made some progress in becoming more fit. I've been diligent in following a diet and exercise routine and have lost 5 lbs and 1 1/2" from my waist. This has happened over the past 3 weeks. As for Chris, he's been running to work (approx. 7.5 miles) on Tuesdays and Thursdays. And we usually work out together on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, doing weight lifting execises. So things have been good.

On another note, Chris will be retiring from the full-time grind to start another full-time grind devoted to The Journey of Success website, blog and podcast. Who knows where this will all lead, but it should be an interesting few years. In preparation, we're selling dumb stuff, American stuff (since we will stay in Germany), and any other needless things. I really hope we can sell much of what we have taking up space.

Back to the "shape" update, I'll include our meal plan below. I'm a huge believer in having one free day a week. That whole starve myself until I meet my goal weight just doesn't work for me. I <3 chocolate, and having a soda with popcorn at the movies, and enjoying a piece of cake at a birthday party, and, and, and ... . OK, yes, it takes a little forethought, but it really helps to decide what "free food" I'm going to indulge in and what "free food" doesn't make the cut. This week we're going to the movies, so popcorn and a soda it is. I'll let you know which movie we see, how it was, and if the popcorn and soda was worth it.

The strawberry pie on Monday night's schedule was supposed to be for my birthday, but I didn't feel up to making it. I haven't found the right berries, yet. Maybe next week ... Anticipation!!!

Strawberry pie unglazed

As the Germans here say, Tschüss!

It's a New Year! Happy 2014!

Hi All,

So again, Chris and I have been exercising regularly since Monday. We've also started a diet.
Yep, we're still hoping to lose some weight. If we stick to our meal plans and limit ourselves to
one free day per week, we should meet our goals in no time.

Well, each day we've done the beginner work-out of Foundation. And I've run 1.5 miles each day and
Chris has run a total of 11 miles so far this week. Monday and today, we did a light weight work-out; legs on Monday and arms, today.

OK, so here's our motivational quote ~

It's apropos for today, don't you think? See you with our updates. : D

Back in the Saddle Again!

Today is Friday! Yay! It's the 22nd of November.

So, today I've done a Core Performance workout with Chris, ran 3 miles, and did 250 sit-ups.

Tuesday, we did Yoga together. Wednesday I was a slacker; hence, the post's title. And Thursday
we did Yoga together, again.

Here's a little Aerosmith with Back in the Saddle Again! http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=uIPS4LyveJs

And Chris gets 20 miles in this week w/ a 5miler tomorrow. I can't believe he's fit in the time to get his run on. : D

Our motivational quote comes from Bill Rodgers, four-time winner of the Boston Marathon.

The advice I have for beginners is the same philosophy that I have for runners of all levels of experience and ability – consistency, a sane approach, moderation and making your running an enjoyable, rather than dreaded, part of your life.

Feeling Green

Today I'm feeling green, and that's a good thing, because one of my favorite colors is green.
And as Kermit the Frog knows, it's not easy being green, but it's sure worth it!

Saturday we went to the temple and to see Thor's new movie. We had a really great day!
Sunday is the Sabbath, so that's always our day off.
And today I ran 2 miles and did 5 sets of 20 squats, 20 sit-ups, and 20 push-ups.
I bet my arms will hurt tomorrow.
Chris ran 3 miles and did 2 sets of 25 squats, 25 sit-ups, and 25 push-ups.
I bet his arms will hurt tomorrow, too.

The agenda for tomorrow is relaxing yoga and a 4 mile run for me and a 7.5 mile run for Chris.

He's running to work. I hope it doesn't snow. ; D

OK, see you later frogs.

Tuesday, November 12, 2013

OK, So we're nearing the middle of November ...

And it's almost 2014!!!! Holy Bat Turds Bat Man!

Well, Chris liked the quote for today from Daily Reflections for Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey, so I'm posting that one. It's on p. 317 and states "Probably The Greatest benefit you will experience from exercising will be the development of your muscles of proactivity. As you act based on the value of physical well-being, instead of reacting to all the forces that keep you from exercising, your paradigm of your self, your self-esteem, your self-confidence, and your integrity will be profoundly affected."

Chris ran to work today in the very cold weather. His only comment about his run was -It was cold. His run was about 7.5 miles. We did Gentle Vinyasa Yoga this morning and I ran 3 miles. Tomorrow I've got 4 to do.

We'll keep posting. : D
